Grandad... You taught me so much and I am honoured to be called your grandson. I have so many memories with you but some stick out more than others. I remember you took me on my first fishing trip, we sat there all day by the river and I don’t think I caught one bloody fish! You would have to put the maggot on the end of my fishing rod because I was to squeamish to do it, you constantly told me to man up and made me laugh all day to the point where I actually liked fishing. The golf days were even better, I remember you taking me down the golfing range and teaching me to stop swinging like a kid who has no clue but to control it and by the time we had finish I was nearly half as good as you! Lol you would of killed me for saying that!! I think I was so bad you gave up and made me your caddy driver instead. As you would agree your blooming lucky you lasted this long and your life wasn’t cut short on that day! I remember hitting a bump at full speed and you clinging on for deer life as I hit it. I can still picture the horror on your face as you managed to use you strength to stay in the caddy and I still laugh just as much every time! I’ll also never forget your stories you told me about rugby matches which I can’t say as I will keep it PG! My last memory of you was the frequent visits with my sister and all of us smiling and playing cards. You kept loosing and called it rubbish but we had lots of laughs which I will treasure forever! You always told us frequently at family events to come off our phones and focus on who was there at present. Now I know exactly why, because memories are priceless and the only thing that lasts forever! Grandad as you once said to me, I am now the oldest man of the family and I promise to do you proud and keep everyone together, look after mum and continue your legacy. I will miss you millions but remember you forever. I don’t want to say goodbye because you’ll always still be here with us so instead I will say see you again one day. Love your grandson Ben xx
